Mr. Hand's experience includes, most recently, providing owner representation on a 34 story mixed use project in downtown Orlando, a 28 story condominium in SW Florida and a 770,000 sq.ft. retail/residential mixed use complex in Naples, FL. Immediately prior to these assignments Mr. Hand was Vice President of Operations of a multi-billion dollar per year publicly held National Development Company - primary responsibilities included training, facilitating pre-construction activities, development of project design standards, policies and procedures, construction cost estimating, contract negotiations, schedule development and management, contract cost auditing and construction related insurances including OCIP's, CCIP's and SubGuard programs. Prior experience includes Senior Management of pre-construction activities for a large General Contractor exclusively building negotiated design-build projects and Associate, VP and then President and owner of a large multidisciplinary Consulting Engineering firm. Mr. Hand's formal education occurred at the Florida institute of Technology and the University of Minnesota where he majored in Electrical Engineering.
Project experience includes high-rise luxury condominiums, hotel and destination resorts, health care including hospitals, office, retail, government, schools and large mixed use facilities. Geographically, Mr. Hand has been involved in projects ranging from the Upper-Midwest in Minnesota to Arizona in the Southwest and Boston in the Northeast down the coast to and throughout the State of Florida. Clients over the years have included several Fortune 500 corporations, schools and universities, State and local governments, major health care institutions and numerous private companies and developers. Mr. Hand has attended numerous conferences, symposiums and formal continuing education programs and has been a speaker on several occasions. From Sept. 2001 thru Dec. 2011, Jim, as President, was responsible for the general operations of Grosse Pointe Dev. Co., Inc. My responsibilities included negotiations and administration of all Design Professionals, Contractors and Suppliers for major projects in Southwest Florida including Tarpon Point, Bell Tower Park, Palmas del Sol in Gulf Harbour and 55 West in Orlando.
